Do you remember William Smith Monroe’s song with the "Blue Grass Boys," Were you there when they crucified my Lord? If you are a believer in Jesus, you were there. As believers, the Bible says we died in Christ; we rose from the dead in Christ; we ascended into Heaven in Christ; and we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus at God’s right hand. Really? Yes. It is true, scripture confirms this, and I even saw it, so let me share it with you! In the early 90’s while passionately singing praise to our Lord during an Easter service,
I had a vision.
I was a spiritual seed within the spiritual loins of Christ Jesus on the third day looking forth as He rose from hell and death. I watched us speedily ascend through the many layers of earth and then burst into the glorious morning light upon its surface! The Word is true; we rose from the dead in Christ (Eph. 2:6a)!
In the mid 90’s, I had been ill for several months; I hardly had strength to walk yet I was teaching young believers of their authority in Christ weekly. One morning I felt awful, I had only slept a few hours that night. When I arrived, they were out on an assignment. I was relieved. I was glad I could go home and rest, but God drew me into the sanctuary to praise Him instead, lifting-up my arms and voice in worship and
I had a vision.
I was seated upon a high heavenly place in Jesus. It reminded me of the day Moses on a hilltop while Joshua led Israel into battle in the valley below (Exod. 17). Jesus spoke about my battle saying, “down there is your body, not you.” My reborn spirit in Christ was truly seated in His authority! From that day forward, my body mended. The Word is true; we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6b)!
Years later in 2008, as a more mature Christian, God sent to Uganda for a month. In a village, I was delightfully playing with the children on a dirt road. Both sides of all the roads had very deep ditches to handle any sudden heavy rainfall. Mysteriously I fell into the ditch and my right wrist was shattered. Two days later I was escorted to a hospital in the bush to have a cast placed on my wrist. They had no pain meds so when I woke up from the general anesthesia, I thrashed about in excruciating pain, but . . .
I had the most marvelous vision.
I saw my legs within Jesus’ legs. My arms were stretched out within His arms across the horizontal cross beam. My head turned to the right side within His head. My eyes saw through His eyes. And we watched them pound a huge nail through our right wrist to the cross. We were there when they crucified our Lord! In fact, we were crucified with and in Christ Jesus that day also (Rom. 6:6; Gal. 2:20)!
God foreknows everyone who has believed, who does believe, and who will believe in His Son, Jesus (Rom.8:29). The spirit of every believer (past, present and future) was in Christ Jesus when He died, rose, ascended into Heaven, and sat down at the right hand of Power (Eph. 1:20). What an honor, privilege, and position we have been granted as believers! So, no matter what situation we may experience, remember that we are “seated at the right hand of God,” a phrase that means God is sharing His authority and power with us. Christ Jesus, as the Head, has all authority in heaven and in earth (Matt. 28:18) and He joyfully shares it with us, His body—the Church (Eph. 1:21-22). So, make use of it for His glory!
